1967 Corvette 327/350hp Roadster
This project started with a good running car that looked good from 20 feet but needed some major work. It is a nicely equipped car with the 350hp engine, 4:11 rear gears, leather seats, side pipes, the big block stinger hood and a perfect color combination.
The plan was to have a show quality car that could be driven anywhere but not an NCRS restoration.
Since the plan was to have a top notch capable driving car we made a few modifications. The first was replacing the original 4-speed transmission with a modern Tremec 5-speed; this modification completely changed the driving characteristics, it is incredible. Next was the addition of Vintage Air heat and A/C and a tilt steering column. These changes make the Vette a very nice place to spend time. KYB shocks and BF Goodrich radial red lines really improve the handling. A canvass top was installed instead of the original vinyl; it adds a nice touch of class.
The Corvette had a complete body off restoration. All components were restored or replaced with high end parts. Attention was paid to being as “Corvette correct” as possible but not to the point of sacrificing drivability.
The end results are great and the goal was met. The car looks amazing from every angle. Even though the stinger hood is incorrect, it really adds to the overall look. The interior is gorgeous and very comfortable; the climate control works very well. The car loves to be driven; it pulls hard in all gears and rides at a very comfortable and smooth 2,100 rpm at 70 mph.
And the sound out of the side pipes definitely will put a smile on your face!
